WHAT TO EXPECT:
Did you know Germany is the world’s 3rd largest producer of Pinot Noir, known locally as Spätburgunder? In contrast to American Pinot, the fruit takes a backseat here. On the nose, you get aromas of earth, brambly red berries, and a little gameyness. The palate is dominated by a mineral backbone and flavors of white pepper, dried fruits, and violets. This is a classic, old world version of Pinot with the terroir sitting front and center.
Definitely enjoy this one with a meal as it was designed with food in mind. Grilled sausages really hit the mark!
